Commissioned as a rental apartment for students, this project begs the question: how do you make a small space feel like home? The design needed to go beyond efficiency – we needed to create a space that feels warm, comfortable, and suited for long-term use.
Furniture plays a central role in this. Rather than dividing the unit into smaller rooms, the design relies on careful placement of furniture to define each function without interrupting the overall flow. Each piece is designed to serve more than one purpose, maximizing usability without wasting space. A corner desk frees up circulation space while creating a dedicated area to study. The wardrobe is kept generous, acknowledging the need for long-term living rather than short stays. Additional storage is integrated above the kitchen and within built-in elements, ensuring that everyday items can be tucked away without cluttering the space. Material and color choices are intentionally soft and neutral. Light tones help the space feel more open, while warmer finishes introduce a sense of comfort that offsets the compact scale.
